know my steelo.

Style. Completely subjective. To each their own. As much as I fancy getting all dolled up, I'm a jeans & tee-shirt type lady at heart. Well tailored jeans and properly fitted tees, but still a minimalist. I like subtle details that not everyone would pick up on, except myself or those few folks who appreciate such things.

Here are a few Etsy finds that do simplicity well:

little dachshunds on the hillside

I'm terrible. My latest fixation has been Miniature Dachshunds. Actually, it's an ongoing fixation, I've always wanted one. During my sleepless hours at night I spend the time perusing rescue doxies. I found one, a gem, a gem I can't afford but want oh-so-badly. I filled out an adoption application for her at 3:30 a.m. on a whim. It can't hurt right?

Plus, who could resist these stubby little creatures?

NUDE and in bed.

After lazy Sunday bed lounging web perusal, I decided to treat myself to the painful ogling that is Sephora.com. Granted I'm in no shape to be spending a dime on any sort of new beauty regime, but I love seeing the new products out there I've yet to discover. PLUS, my cosmetics collection is in such sheer abundance since doing make-up professionally, it's hard to rationalize buying anything these days.

On that note I'd like to say I just spied NUDE. I'm probably rather late to the game, but better be fashionably late than an utter no-show. Yes? I don't know, it sounded good in my head but not so good coming out of my fingertips.

Pretty much, I'm in love with their packaging. Can't say squat for their actual product line, but I have a feeling I might be obsessing enough to treat myself to some sort of semi-affordable product they slang to give it a whirl.

kitchen quiche! kitsch and quiche?

I made Quiche Lorraine last night. However, it's technically not Quiche Lorraine considering it was sans bacon. Not that I have anything against bacon, I love bacon, you should love bacon, I love that there is a product out there called Baconnaise, though I'd never eat. Or at least I'd never eat it today.

Mainly I was out of bacon. So I made Quiche Lo(fat)rraine. It was tasty.

I've never tackled quiche before, but I have a decent baking thumb so I decided to give it a go. I was seriously craving Spinach Soufflé the other day and decided I'd make quiche instead. I think I just like typing the word quiche, and saying the word quiche, and that made me decide to make quiche. Quiche quiche quiche quiche quiche. KEEEEEEEEESHHHHHHH.

It came out good. Better than expected. However I still have yet to find the trick for crispy bottom crust. I recall watching my mom whenever she makes galettes, baking the crust slightly prior to adding the filling. Maybe that's the key? I've never asked, but my assumptive ways makes me believe that might do.

I should attach a photo documentation of the half devoured quiche for full effect, though I'm sure all folk know what a half devoured quiche may look like. Just add a little artfagging photo touch.

P.S.
Currently loving Heidi Burton.

She makes squeal-worthy art, which I have informed her of. And her handwritten scrawls would make a fantastical typeface, which I have informed her of also.

flabbergasted flutterbombs

I'm very perplexed by the ever-evolving nature of man vs. woman relationships. Mainly, people are fucking strange. And yes, we all know this. But I wonder if my observant ways and obvious expectations of proper behavior are becoming a handicap more and more with each passing day.

Common courtesy is vastly dwindling, and I'd appreciate - as I'm sure most would - for all respectable folk to pull their heads out of their proverbial asses. Thank you.

modern stone-age family

It's been bloody hot.
Fantastically hot.
But still.. HOT.

Springtime weather is in full swing, mid-low nineties, holy mackerel. I've always fancied my old decrepit digs except for one not-so-small issue. Temperature fluctuation blows. Living in an, shall we say, vintage? Yes. A rather "vintage" unit, with single-paned windows can be a a pain, hah!

When it's cold it is burr burr cold cold, and when it's hot it's blood boiling. I remember a few years back for my birthday it was record highs, hitting 105. Which actually means it's about 115 in my little place. A girlfriend came over to pick me up and drop off some bubbly. Within seconds her party dress was above her head and her dome was in the freezer. Yes, you get my drift.

Sleeping has been out of wack due to my zero obligations until the new job is a go. I enjoy not having any requirements really for my days, but staying up until the wee wee house and sleeping half my day away is sucky-two-times. Especially when you roll out of bed with a sheer film of sweat because the heat is peaking come noontime. Oy vey!

Experimenting with leathers has been fun and I'm having no shortage of tinkering whatsoever. You really become a true MacGyver when you're refurbing your own collection of jewels to make new things. I really think it's an excuse for the fact that I don't have copious amounts of expendable funds. Which is good, keeps you crafty and clever.

I revamped my Etsy store a bit. I'm digging the new over-all look. I'm sure it'll be an evolution as I tend to get bored with aesthetic appeal pretty easy. We'll see..

I went on a font binge. Fonts. FONTS! fawnts. Typeface? I love fonts, I've always loved fonts, but I especially love really groovy fonts that totally evoke a certain feel, or vibe. I'm especially keen on those handwritten scrawling fonts, the types that look like someones junior high binder circa 1988, or those of the art deco-y persuasion. The only gripe I have is that there are SO MANY. It sucks even moreso when you spy a dope font online and can't track it down. Though I'm a determined little bunny, so my stubbornness really aids the search.

The End.
Over and Out.
Ten-Four Tiny!

Ahoy!

new blog.
new things.
new ideas.
new new new!

I'm terrible at these. When I was a little girl I used to attempt the "secret diary" dailyness. They'd only last about a week. I think my several attempts were really only put forth for the sheer enjoyment in the actually purchasing of said diaries.

Usually in the overtly girly nature, probably of the Lisa Frank persuasion. And the keys.. I liked the keys, the locked up secrets, the specially cut key teeth, the whole whimsy of that scribbling world.

However.
The diaries never lasted, the keys always got lost, and my severe intrigue dwindled after a short while. I'm sure the same will go for the virtual world as well.

But why not go ahead and give it a whirl?

I'm here, because, well.. I'm currently smitten on showboating my crafty antics. As an avid Etsy user and abuser, I've established myself a wee little shop to display and slang my latest creations. Being a "hands-on" type broad leaves me with the constant desire to get them dirty in the proverbial sense.

As that apparently great saying goes.. "Idle hands are the Devil's playground." I'm keeping mine busy, and accumulating callouses along the way.

Being a left-handed girl in a right-handed world is a doozy.
But I like to think it makes me special.
